Description

Join Case Western Reserve University as the Philadelphia alumni chapter cheers on the CWRU Rowing team during the Dad Vail Regatta weekend.

Guests will gather on Alumni Row, in a private tented area to watch rowers compete. A tradition deep in the history of Philadelphia, Dad Vail Regatta is the largest regular intercollegiate regatta in the U.S., taking place on the Schuylkill River. Last year, CWRU undergraduate Patrick DelBarba won the university's first gold medal at Dad Vail national championships.

Dad Vail will host several heats on Friday and Saturday, with championship races on Saturday. Registration includes access to the alumni tent as well as refreshments throughout both days. This is a family friendly, casual event. If you are able to attend both days or if you would prefer to just come one day, you are welcome to either.

We look forward to having you help us cheer on the CWRU Rowers!

Kelly Drive is in the Fairmount Park section of Philadelphia, Pa. This Mecca of rowing is located on the east bank of the Schuylkill River just northwest of Center City Philadelphia. How do I get there and where should I park?

Click here for a map and directions to Fairmount Park. Kelly Drive will be closed for the race. Traffic is routed through Fairmount Park by Police officers and barricades from both north and south and directed on its way. Regatta traffic is directed to remote parking areas. There, shuttle buses provide free rides for regatta fans and spectators down to the race course area, running about every 15 to 20 minutes. There usually is a nominal fee for parking.

Handicapped Parking
Parking is difficult on Kelly Drive and there are no reserved parking spaces for Handicapped motorists. However, vehicles with license plates indicating that the driver is handicapped or carrying a state Handicapped tag hanging from the rear view mirror, may pass through police barricades by showing these credentials. Once on the drive, however, it's first come-first served.
